Our take
Split-personality Tao Poon: an air-conditioned lounge with a live band nightly, and an open deck sitting level with the MRT tracks — trains sliding past close enough to feel like set design. The craft beer selection is extensive, the tom yum and sun-dried beef hold up, and the whole scene is a corner of Bangkok most visitors never meet. It runs pricier than the neighborhood suggests.
Insider tip
Start on the open deck while the trains are still running past at eye level, then move inside for the live band, which plays nightly from about 8:30 PM.
